Starting on June 1, 2011 when the Illinois civil union law goes into effect thousands of same-sex and different-sex couples will have a broad range of protections available to them and their children. We know that many couples are looking forward to celebrating these new rights with family and friends.
Our Civil Union Tracker system aims to ensure that same-sex and different-sex couples who have a civil union (either because they have applied for one in Illinois, or because their out-of-state marriage, civil union, or domestic partnership qualifies as a civil union in Illinois) are treated fairly under Illinois law.
